The RSPCA Isle of Wight branch is a separately registered, island based charity and is one of 164 charities that support the local work of the RSPCA.  Originally established in the 1950's we are proud to support the work of the RSPCA Inspectorate group, supporting the islands most vulnerable animals.  As an independently registered charity, we rely on the generosity of our community donations and all monies raised on the island, remain on the island in support the abandoned, abused and orphaned domestic and wild animals in our care.

To help support our busy animal centre team of staff and volunteers we have just recently opened our brand-new reception centre situated between Godshill and Rookley at the junction of Merstone Lane on the A3054.

We provide care and assistance to the animals on the island that require our help. We also promote responsible animal ownership through local education campaigns.

What we do

RSPCA Isle of Wight branch provides support for our Island’s most vulnerable animals at our animal centre in Godshill.

Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers provides daily care and welfare for domestic, farm and wild animals.  We re-unite lost animals with their concerned owners and find new, loving homes for every healthy adoptable animal.  We also rehabilitate and release those wild animals which will survive in the wild.

Our branch is an independently registered Island-based charity and we rely solely on the generosity of our local community to deliver our critical animal care.  We support the RSPCA Inspectorate team to support those animals most in need.

Our opening times are Tuesday-Sunday 11am-4pm, with last viewings 3.30pm.  We are closed to the public on Mondays and Bank holidays, although our welfare work never stops!

Our branch also has four charity shops across the Island and these generate crucial funds which enable us to carry out our animal welfare work. These shops are based in: Newport (11b Lower St James St, Newport PO30 5HE); Ventnor (33-35 High Street, Ventnor PO38 1RZ); Cowes (12 Birmingham Road, Cowes PO31 7BH) and Sandown (4a High Street, Sandown PO36 8DA).
